The Alberta Selects beat the MCC tourists at the Westwinds Cricket Ground in Calgary by four wickets. Alberta held MCC to just over four runs an over, thanks to economic bowling from Canadian international Khurram Chohan and Farhan Malik, as well as Khurram Tahir picking up the wickets of three middle order batsmen. One of the MCC tourists had told me there was a dependence on the front five batsmen. In this match, three of the top order made between 45 and 50, with two going cheaply.

Alberta replied with an opening stand of 36 at four runs an over. Opener Yasoob ul Haq went on to anchor the innings with 50 runs from 107 balls after Abdul Sattar was first out for 12 with the total on 36. Canadian international wicketkeeper/batsman Hamza Tariq scored 25, adding 68 with Yasoob for the third wicket. Yasoob was run out with the total on 136 and eight runs later Shahzad Bashir, who chipped in with 19 runs, was also run out. This brought together Sudeepta Aurka and Khurram Chohan. The pair added 58 for the sixth wicket before Aurka was caught by MCC captain Jason Gallian off the bowling of John Gray for 31, scored from 37 balls. This left the Alberta Selects needing 13 runs to win. Captain Khurram Chohan steered his team to victory with an innings of 41 not out from 37 balls. Rajiv Sharam bowled economically for the tourists, conceding 24 runs from nine overs,

In the MCC innings opener Tom Webley made 56 before being run out. Rajiv Sharma made 46 and Mark Wright was bowled by Khurram Tahir for 45. Tahir took three wickets for 50 runs in his ten overs.
