After Saturday games were rained out, Sunday dawned to snow stopping play at King City – A HREF=”http://www.cricketstar.net/tdca/images/KingCity2May9.jpg”>photo from TDCA. Cool weather elsewhere is making for a chilly start- there was snow last week in Alberta and Calgary overnight temperatures were -4 degrees on Saturday. In Edmonton, two grounds were out of action. At historic Victoria Park, a burst water main flooded the club house, and the ground itself is in poor condition. The poor spring has prevented a start on artificial wicket construction at Millwoods, so games there were also cancelled.
In Vancouver however the season is underway, with a 20-20 competition already completed in april. The BCMCL site reports:-
“Salim Akbar after defeating West Vancouver in the semi-final on ball out on Saturday, April 17, went through to the finals to play Arbutus CC on Sunday. Arbutus batted first and were bowled out for 101 runs in 16.3 overs. Sadeqat bowled marvelously by taking 4 wickets, Akthar and Imran took 2 wickets each. In reply Salim Akbar batted like champions and scored 102 runs for the loss of 1 wicket only, with Ibrahim getting 24, Mazhar 24 and Pasha 36. Match of the match award was given to Sadeqat for his excellent bowling. Congratulations to Salim Akbar for winning the 2010 edition of the T20 Final.”
Two rounds of the Premier division are already complete with Meraloma showing impressive early season form with two easy wins led by Alex Earl’s 157 runs for once out, and Steve Welsh’s 5-19 bowling in the second game.
