Four Boys High School teams were in the hunt for the championship following individual city and region championships around the GTA.<br \/>\nMississauga SS, the 2018 Mississauga City champions, beat losing Mississauga finalists Stephen Lewis SS in one of the morning\u2019s semi-finals. North Albion CI, the 2018 Toronto City runner- up, beat 2018 Brampton champion North Park SS in the other semi-final.<br \/>\nThe CIMA Mayor\u2019s Toronto championship had been won by Marc Garneau CI earlier in the week, but, due to cricket playing commitments in mainstream GTA cricket leagues, Marc Garneau was unable to field a team in the GTA playoffs. Middlefield CI won the 2018 York Region CIMA Mayor\u2019s championship but were also unable to participate in the GTA playoffs for the GTA Canadian Tire Trophy. This opened the door for North Albion and Mississauga runner- up Stephen Lewis SS to play in the GTA semi-finals.<br \/>\nThere has been a lot of schools cricket in Toronto and the Peel Region in the last 2 to 3 months. The spring sees indoor cricket championships in Toronto under the jurisdiction of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) banner and in Peel under the broad-based Region of Peel Secondary Schools Athletic Association (ROPSSAA). The ROPSSAA includes schools under the jurisdictions of the Peel District School Board, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and some indpendend schools.<br \/>\nThere is, at present, no outdoor cricket championship under the ROPSSAA banner but the TDSB has an outdoor cricket championship for Boys that has been in existence for several years. The TDSB\u2019s outdoor cricket championship for girls that began recently.<br \/>\nThe York Region Athletic Association (YRAA) has operated an outdoor cricket championship for several years that is played in the Autumn term. A strong performance from left-hand opening bat Muhammad Kamal then gave Mississauga SS the upper hand and a boundary after 12.5 overs brought victory and the Canadian Tire Trophy. Muhammad Kamal hit 3 sixes then was out in an eventful over that firmly tipped the scales in favour of his team. Some 61 runs were scored when Muhammad Kamal was facing the bowling but some of those runs were extras, such as a no-ball.<br \/>\nIt is hoped that more detailed scores from these GTA playoffs will be available during the coming days.
