Sorry, army of Canadian cricket fans.

Ashish Bagai says: “If they want to keep it to 10 teams, which they want to do, that’s fine, but it’s never going to be a global sport that way.”

I wish we could all just face up to the fact that cricket is not, and never will be a global sport. The only people who really want it to be a global sport are folk like Ashish Bagai – and fair play to the bloke – and empire-builders in the ICC. Me, I’d rather watch a few really good sides playing intense, closely fought games. If that means the people of Quebec or Cork or Mombasa are denied the chance to see their boys at the World Cup then that’s price I’m willing to pay. If there is a genuine groundswell of desire among a large number of Canadian or Irish or whoever people to become a cricketing nation, then investment, and success, will eventually follow.
Full story

Alan Tyers, writing for Cricket365.com offers these words of wisdom:- If the cost of, for instance, Canada getting good at cricket – even though the large majority of Canadians could care less – is England having to play them home and away in a bunch of lame fixtures that only wear our players out for […]

[10,17
