{"id":13397,"date":"2020-09-26T07:51:21","date_gmt":"2020-09-26T11:21:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.canadacricket.com\/?p=13397"},"modified":"2020-09-26T07:51:21","modified_gmt":"2020-09-26T11:21:21","slug":"brantford-club-wins-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.canadacricket.com\/?p=13397","title":{"rendered":"Brantford club wins title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brian Smiley for the Sudbury Star<br \/>\n&#8220;The Brantford Cricket Club may be the only sports organization in the city to win a major championship in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Brantford scored a 64-run victory over Niagara in the Hamilton and District Cricket League\u2019s 40-Over Premier Division final last week at Rotary Centennial Waterworks Park,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now, we\u2019re in the spotlight,\u201d said club president Jason Chahal, a driving force behind resurrecting the sport in the city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone comes to Brantford and says they\u2019re playing a great team. The league is really looking at us, the way we\u2019re organized. Five or six years ago, Brantford wasn\u2019t even on the map.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The sport in the city dates back to the 1800s and, in the late 1990s and early 2000s, a cricket club played at Cockshutt Park.
