Ireland, led by 88 from Ed Joyce made an impressive 328\/6 from their 50 overs. Canada never threatened to come close to the win, as wickets fell and the run rate required increased throughout their innings. Limbada made a good half-century, his highest score for Canada in five one day internationals, but they were all out for 195, losing by 133 runs.
\n
\n It was cool and overcast in Dublin, and Canada chose to bowl after winning the toss. Stirling went on the attack immediately hitting a four and a six from Chohan’s first over, but after racing to 26 from 21 balls hit a hard return catch to Baidwan – 43\/1 from 7.1 overs. Joyce and Porterfield kept the scoreboard ticking over and brought up the hundred in the nineteenth over. Both reached personal fifties five overs later, and with half the overs gone, Ireland were set for a big total at 138\/1. They put on 119 before Porterfield (67) was caught at fine leg off Siddiqui. Joyce looked to be heading for a century but was caught at long-off for 88 just after the 200 came up in the 36th over. Niall O’Brien contributed 37, and when he was caught and bowled, Kevin O’Brien arrived at the perfect moment for his big-hitting skills. He made 35 from 14 balls with three sixes, taking Ireland towards 300. Wilson contributed an unbeaten 56 from 36 balls to take Ireland to 328\/6, just one short of their highest one-day total.
\nIn reply Kumar and Patel made a steady start but then Patel and Gunasekera were both caught behind off Johnston in the same over with the score on 34. Kumar had been playing well but was beaten and bowled by Mooney for 26. Hansra contributed 12 to a 50 run partnership with Limbada, but was bowled by Dockerell with the score on 113 after 26 overs. Limbada made a good 50 from 81 balls but was caught trying to hook – 140\/5 with 18 overs to go. Canada’s last hope rested with Rizwan Cheema (36), but he was caught in the deep trying for a third successive boundary, and Hamza Tariq followed shortly afterwards. Hussain and Chohan kept Ireland in the field until the 48th over, the last wicket pair frustrating the Irish for seven overs but Canada were all out for 195.
\nCricInfo coverage<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Canada fared no better at the one day game than they did in the four-day version, again being comprehensively outplayed by a strong Irish team.
