Cliff captained the national team in 1969 and 1970, leading them against the USA on two occasions. BC Cricket commented &#8220;We are for sure going to miss his great cricket administration and his amazing commitment to BC Cricket and Canadian Cricket.&#8221; The Cliff Cox Medal is be awarded annually to the &#8220;Best and Fairest&#8221; player in the BCMCL Premier Division as voted by the Umpires throughout the regular season. <\/p>\n<p>Cricket Canada announced his passing as follows:-<br \/>\n&#8220;Cricket Canada is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Vice President Clifford Cox. Cliff, a former national team  captain and a fixture in BC cricket for over 4 decades, passed away in Vancouver on Saturday. A true sportsman and competitor, he actively competed in and guided the sport for over 70 years.  Currently, Cliff was the 3rd Vice President of Cricket, representing Canada internationally, on the Board of BC Cricket and a registered player for the Meraloma Club.  He was a big advocate for the game and never missed an opportunity to make sure you were up to speed on the latest cricket news. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Doreen, daughters Liz and Joanne and their families, sister Carol and her daughter Mandy.  He will be fondly remembered by his staff, many business associates, cricket, theatrical and close friends.<br \/>\nPresident Ranjit Saini spoke briefly in Toronto regarding the passing of a dear friend.<br \/>\n&#8220;Cliff Cox was a foundation of Canadian Cricket and a dedicated volunteer. He was a dear friend and a close advisor to me. In all times of difficulties and severe stress I would phone him and seek advice. Cliff brought peace and laughter to my life and was a person that could share my sorrows and excitement. While Cliff will live forever in our hearts, I will miss him dearly every moment of my life.&#8221;<br \/>\nMike Kendall of the Ontario Cricket Association writes<br \/>\n&#8220;On behalf of the Ontario Cricket Association,  I would like to express our sincere condolences on the sudden passing away of Cliff Cox, to his family. Cliff was an icon of the Canadian Cricket with enormous contribution to the development and nurturing of the game.<br \/>\nOn a personal; note, I have had the pleasure of knowing Cliff for a few years and even travelled with him to Lords for ICC conference.
