With each candidate securing nine votes, it was up to the delegates from the nine provinces to come up with a tiebreaker because there is no mechanism in the constitution that addresses the breaking of a deadlock&#8230;.By secret ballot, the delegates unlocked the tie in Moorthy\u2019s favour making him \u2013 at age 35 \u2013 one of the youngest presidents in the organization\u2019s 120-year history&#8230;.<br \/>\nMoorthy came to Canada in 1981 as a five-year-old with his Sri Lankan-born father and Malaysian mother and settled in Calgary&#8230;. Moorthy played club cricket in Calgary and represented Alberta at the Under-19 level before serving on the Calgary &amp; District Cricket League executive.
