Result: Victoria 102 for five wickets (32 overs) beat Vancouver 100 all out (29.1 overs)
\nVictoria beat Vancouver on home ground at Beacon Hill Park last Saturday (June 30th) in the annual inter-city match for the Virtue Cup. The Victoria side was selected from players in the Victoria and District Cricket Association on Vancouver Island. The Vancouver team was composed of players from the British Columbia Mainland Cricket League.

\nVictoria scored 102 for five wickets in 32 overs. Gurdeep Rattan made two early breakthroughs in the Victoria innings, but opener Adam Benning stayed firm to make 20 not out. Matthew Goode made a brisk 17 runs batting at number four. Goode was then leg-before wicket to Rattan, who followed by having Omer Khan caught at slip for a duck. Vikram Bawa made a steady 19 before being caught at the wicket off Gurwinder Sidhu\u2019s bowling. Victoria captain Kulvir Sidhu then made 22 not out from 23 balls, including three shots for six. Gurdeep Rattan took four wickets for 23 runs in his ten over stint of bowling. It included two maiden overs. <\/p>\n
Vancouver scored 100 all out in 29.1 overs. Opener Kasun Perera, run out for 13, was the only batsmen in Vancouver\u2019s top six to reach double figures as Victoria\u2019s opening bowler Andy Scott and first-change bowler Omer Khan made early breakthroughs. Scott ended with 2 wickets for 19 runs from nine overs and Khan took 2 wickets for just 3 runs in three overs. Manjit Dhillon fought back with 29 runs from 38 balls, including three boundaries and a six with some support from Sydney D\u2019Souza (11) and Mohammad Dara (19). Ty Holtan picked up two wickets at a cost of 40 runs in his five overs, but took the last wicket. Getting the last man out in a victory can be very useful, and Izak Brussow took two wickets, including that of top-scorer Dhillon, Brussow\u2019s two wickets cost 14 runs in four overs. <\/p>\n
