The Ontario Premier League’s regular season schedule concluded on Thursday evening at the Malton Cricket Club with a 30-run win by the Brampton Kings over the Ontario Trilliums. Trevin Bastiampillai hit two fours and three sixes in a 24-ball knock that produced 43 runs and Durand Soraine scored 39 runs from 36 balls to provide the foundation of the Brampton Kings innings. Yakub 18, Daesrath 19 and Raffic 13 chipped in with double-figure scores at or better than a run-a-ball to provide momentum.<\/p>\n
Canadian junior international Nikil Dutta came through with bowling figures of four wickets for 23 runs from his four overs when the Ontario Trilliums batted. He captured the key wicket of Rizwan Cheema for 33 (included five sixes), who was caught by Brampton skipper Daesrath. Dutta’s victims also included Ahamdzal for a duck at the start of the seventh over – Cheema departing to the fifth ball of that over – Seeraj for 1 runs and Pervez for a duck. Daesrath took took catches off Dutta’s bowling and had a tidy couple of overs that cost him six runs while picking up one wicket. <\/p>\n
Saad Zafar was left on 53 not out when a run out brought the Trilliums innings to a conclusion at the end of the 16th over. His score came from 31 balls with seven fours and two sixes.
\nThere was a mixture of some really good catches, attacking fielding and some not so great fielding during the course of the evening. So Ontario’s flower – the Trillium – wilted on the field and the Brampton Kings advanced to the final.<\/p>\n
