The semi-finals (Saturday) and final (Sunday) of the Toronto and District Elite Division are scheduled for the Maple Leaf cricket grounds in King City, Ontario. The Elite semi-finals on Saturday (September 29th) involve a game between Brampton Masters Tranzac and Vikings, as well as Toronto versus Centurions.
In Victoria, British Columbia, United Victoria (Victoria and District) are due to play PakCan (British Columbia Mainland) in a provincial club championship game, now scheduled to start at 11.30am, rather than noon.

In Edmonton, Alberta, the Edmonton and District schedule indicates the First Division semi-finals are due on Saturday with the First Division final on Sunday. These matches, when completed, would seem to bring the season to a conclusion in Edmonton. Playoffs in other divisions were due to be completed last weekend. Some games remain to be completed in the Calgary and District League’s season.
There is also a 50th independence T25 festive game involving Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica at the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus on Saturday, according to a community notice in this week’s edition of “Share”. The campus is at 130 Old Kingston Road, Scarborough. This game is due to be shown live on sorkkam.tv. The game is due to start at 12pm, admission is free and the event, being staged by the Consulate of Trinidad and Tobago, will also feature a family picnic. “Guests are encouraged to bring picnic baskets, tents and chairs to the event.”
Playoffs begin on Saturday in the Scarborough Cricket Association, including quarter-finals in the Premier Division. At Ellesmere, Scarborough CC/Star CC face Bawa and East-West CC meet Toronto Cricketers. Hawaiian Arctic play Kokuvil Sports Club at Ashtonbee and Victoria Park takes on Highland Creek/APM at Lamoreaux Park.
The Ottawa Valley Cricket Council has several T20 matches scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. A number of T20 international games are also on the cards overseas in Sri Lanka that might distract some spectators away from the local cricketing scene across Canada.
On Sunday there are playoff games in the Hamilton District Cricket League featuring St Catharines and Cambridge, and Halton Warriors and Mississauga. Meanwhile a Cambridge, Ontario, team features on Saturday in the final of the Brampton-Etobicoke & District Premier Division championship against Challengers XI.
It would seem a good idea to check your favourite cricket league’s website for any updates on schedules and weather before venturing forth to whichever game or games take your fancy. It might even be a good idea for some within certain league or leagues to cross-check that all scheduled games are shown on their websites. There might be an Elite Division final on Saturday in one league that did not seem to be included in the schedule as of midnight on Friday night. Although at least one league’s schedule for this year has yet to make an appearance on the internet, which might be a bigger overall issue for the awareness, development and growth of cricket in some parts of Canada. But, there are not always too many people willing to volunteer and do the work involved in running a league, which involves making some sacrifices of time and personal interest for the greater good.
Best wishes to all players, umpires, scorers, spectators and officials involved in running the various leagues for reasonable weather and some good cricket as the season comes to a climax in some places across the country this weekend.

Eddie Norfolk There are playoff matches in various leagues this weekend as the cricket season either reaches a crescendo of deciding major league – and even provincial – club champions.
