The film, adapted from the original French version, told the story of a community that tries to entice a doctor to stay in their community by accommodating all of his interests \u2014 including cricket. The people of Port Rexton and Trinity may have been just as unfamiliar with the sport as the hapless characters in the movie until July 1 when Cricket NL held a special demonstration on the sport, organized along with Provincial Historic Sites.<br \/>\nDave Liverman is the secretary of Cricket NL and was also a consultant on the film. He told The Packet there is also a strong historical connection to cricket in the area, one that most people probably don\u2019t know about. \u201cIf you were speaking to somebody from the Bonavista peninsula in 1890 or 1900, they would know about cricket, it would have been played in their community,\u201d he said. \u201cBut the game has died out pretty much completely.
