Davis\u00a0had strong support from Nikhil Dutta made\u00a050 not out as\u00a0 OCA&amp;C reached\u00a0a winning 186\/3 with seven balls to spare.\u00a0 Darwin Christain had top-scored with 62 not out in\u00a0Brampton Masters Tranzac&#8217;s tally of 185\/5 from 20 overs.\u00a0 Masters lost openers Hiral Patel and Rizwan Cheema cheaply, Ruvindu Gunasekera struck 39 and\u00a0Damodar Desraeth 31 as Masters moved towards a useful score on a ground where the boundaries were shortened for this\u00a0Festival match.\u00a0 Ben Davis was presented with a bat for his player of the game performance.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Peel Regional Police had earlier played against OCA&amp;C Under-19s and Canada&#8217;s Sports Minister, Hon. Mr. Bal Gosal was on hand to talk about the Canadian cricket scene with\u00a0several members of the OCA&amp;C and bring\u00a0greetings to \u00a0the local community who had come out to support this Mississauga Cricket Festival initiative.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Darren Ganga made an appearance at the ground late in the evening to invite\u00a0the local cricketing community to this weekend&#8217;s Trinidad\u00a0 &amp; Tobago independence cricket tournament at the University of Toronto&#8217;s cricket ground in Scarborough, Ontario.\u00a0 Guyana and Jamaica teams are to play for the right to meet a Trinidad &amp; Tobago team\u00a0in Sunday&#8217;s final.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>It is not often that I have been at a cricket match that\u00a0took a break to announce another event of potential interest to the cricketing community at 11pm\u00a0at night.\u00a0 I have little doubt this was a personal first, then the Davis\/Dutta partnership resumed,\u00a0and the presentation of the Brandon Paltroon Memorial trophy took place. I think the\u00a0Guyana-Jamaica game is today, Jamaica also celebrates independence on August 31.\u00a0 But expect an update about Sunday&#8217;s arrangements later in the day, although an article in Share newspaper provides some further insight into the event.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Broader coverage of the 2014 Mississauga Cricket Festival will follow in due course, some of the pieces may come together during the course of Sunday&#8217;s T&amp;T independence cricket festivities. It was tough taking still photos under the lights, but extensive video footage exists of both Friday night&#8217;s main game and the Thursday night game between Toronto Cricket Club and the OCA&amp;C.\u00a0 Video and still photos from Thursday night were passed on to Derek Perera during the Friday\u00a0night cricketing experience which was well attended.
