As the outdoor season gets underway across Canada, players struggle to find places to play. Two mainstream media pieces from Alberta and Quebec highlight the problem.

\nThere are now more cricket players of all ages and backgrounds in Calgary than ever before, but advocates for the sport say there\u2019s not enough outdoor pitches to accommodate them. Salman Khan, president of the Calgary and District Cricket League, said Calgary has 2,200 players and just seven pitches to play on. \u201cWe need some more grounds, we need to accommodate people. We\u2019ve been sending people to Red Deer, Medicine Hat, when we get bookings,\u201d said Khan, who noted talks with the city on the subject have been positive, but ongoing for several years.

\nCricket facilities in Montreal are featured by the CBC:
\nDespite being one of the fastest-growing sports in Montreal, cricket enthusiasts are having trouble finding a place to play.
\nSpring marks the beginning of cricket season, but a typical Montreal hotspot for cricket will no longer host matches. The cricket pitch in Raymond Park in Lasalle is closed because last spring, the borough banned the sport in the park.
\n“Right now, we’re in trouble. It seems as if we’re not going to be playing any cricket this year,” said Valentine Miller, spokesman for the Montreal Caribbean Cricket Society.
