This win meant Masters did the double of winning both the Super 6 T20 and 50-over championships and saw captain Royston Crandon presented with the Johnny Bujan Memorial Cup.
\nMasters was renamed JB Masters, after previously being known as Brampton Masters, following the untimely death of Johnny Bujan earlier this year. Members of Johnny Bujan’s family were at Maple Leaf Cricket Club to present the new cup, named in Johnny Bujan’s memory for his tremendous services to cricket.
\nJB Masters won the toss and put OCA\/Overseas in to bat. Unofficially, OCA\/Overseas batting was led by opener Rayyankhan Pathan (26), Shuiab Zaidi (21) and Winston Forrester (23*). Captain and spinner Royston Crandon took 2 wickets, including that of top-scorer Pathan. Pacer Ryan Nurse also took 2 wickets.
\nUsman Limbada and Ruvindu Gunasekera gave JB Masters a solid start. Limbada fell to a well taken catch from a straight drive when on 37. Gunasekera was eventually caught for 37 from off-spinner Mamik Luthra’s bowling. Rodrigo Thomas made 26 before being caught, then Varun Sehdev and Saad bin Zafar steered JB Masters to victory after 19 overs.
\nOCA\/Overseas had pulled off a dramatic last-over win in Saturday’s playoff with Mississauga Ramblers, the game between the second and third-placed teams in the Super 6 T20 Regular Season standings, to qualify for Sunday’s final against T20 regular season leaders JB Masters.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-9688\" src=\"http:\/\/www.canadacricket.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/DSC_0574-300x203.jpg\" alt=\"dsc_0574\" width=\"300\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.canadacricket.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/DSC_0574-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.canadacricket.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/DSC_0574-768x519.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.canadacricket.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/DSC_0574-1024x693.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.canadacricket.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/DSC_0574.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
JB Masters scored 132\/3 from 19 overs in reply to OCA\/Overseas total of 130\/6 (20 overs) in winning the Final of the inaugural Toronto and District Cricket Associations’ Super 6 Division T20 competition on Sunday (September 11, 2016).
