Call for the Provincial team’s Coach, Assistant Coach, Captain and Manager!
Cricket NL is requesting Applications for the position of Coach, Assistant Coach, Captain and Manager. Applications to be sent to Gurman Khurana (gurmank@gmail.com) or Shajanand Rai (raisahjanandhsr@gmail.com) by December 6th, 2022 11 pm.
Job rules and descriptions are explained below;
Coach
Pre and post tournament
● Overall responsibility for coaching and running practices
● Works with captain and assistant coach to develop tactics and strategies for tournament
● Meets with individual players as required to outline roles and areas for improvement
● Post tournament, prepares report for board and for next year’s reference on the tournament, with recommendations.
● Support Women and Junior Program by providing guidance and time commitment.
At tournament:
● In charge of all cricket activities – tactics, strategy, instructions to captain, players, bowling and batting orders, field placing, etc.
● Handle coaching, training
● Select playing XI along with captain and vice-captain
● Look into necessary medical, physio needs of players. In consultation with manager
● Sits on discipline committee if required
● Ensure Cricket NL Code of conduct is followed
● Assist the Manager where necessary.
● Discussions with Cricket Canada selectors
Assistant Coach
Pre and post tournament
● Runs practices/drills for Women and Junior Programs
● Organizes and supports the women and junior program development
● Coordinates indoor bookings and training for women and junior players in fall/winter
● Organizes recreational games to include different groups that may not get exposure in the regular leagues
● Run practices when coach is unavailable, under the general direction of the coach
● Take on responsibility of coach at any time coach is unavailable
● Advises coach on opposition strengths and weaknesses, key players.
● Works with captain and coach to develop tactics and strategies for tournament
● Assists coach in preparing post-tournament report at tournament
● Run warm-up for team under general direction of coach
● Take on responsibility of coach at any time coach is unavailable
● Assist captain, coach and manager as required
● Ensure Cricket NL Code of conduct is followed
Captain
Pre and post tournament
● Assists coach and assistant coach at all practices.
● Works with coach to design practices, identify areas of focus
● Works with captain and assistant coach to develop tactics and strategies for tournament
● Communicates expectations to team members individually and collectively
● Assists coach in preparing post-tournament report
At tournament
● Responsible for all cricketing activities during games, including field placing, batting order, bowling order, toss, and team discipline.
● Leads pre-match warm-ups
● Assists coach and manager as needed
● Selects playing XI in consultation with coach and vice-captain.
● Informs players not in the playing XI prior to games
● Sits on discipline committee if required
● Ensure Cricket NL Code of conduct is followed
Manager
Pre and post tournament
● Communication to the team on all non-coaching issues- travel/ schedules/ deadlines etc.
● Assistance with practices as required
● Liaising with hosting organization
● Organizing group cricket kit and transportation
● Handing out and collecting uniforms
● Maintaining a list of players and contacts
● Organizing rooming arrangements
● Booking accommodation
● Dealing with distribution of grant money
● Dealing with team expenses
● Media releases as required
● Assists coach in preparing post-tournament report
● Organizes pre-tournament meeting
At tournament
● Ensuring all players are aware of schedules
● Chairing discipline committee if required
● Maintenance and safekeeping of team equipment, presentations, money, tickets, etc.
● Finance – ensure adequate receipts for payments.
● Transport, meals, accommodations, facilities arrangements.
● Ensure Cricket NL Code of conduct is followed
● Ensure that scorebook is kept accurately – prepare statistics where necessary.
● Assist coach with their duties where necessary.
● Media releases/ web site update
● Photography/ video if possible
● Assist scorers with player ID (along with players not in XI); score if required.
● Ensure snacks/ water available
● Coordinates transport to and from ground
● Advances any complaints/ issues to organizers and umpires
● Look into necessary medical, physio needs of players. In consultation with manager
