Canada are experimenting with things.
I think in the first game (I haven't watched any of the second yet), they were intent on batting 50 overs. The openers got off to a very slow start and in the end they did bat 50 overs and had nine down but not nearly enough runs. That T10 coming up will hopefully develop a bit more power hitting.
In the first game, Pargat Singh batted 6th and in the 2nd he batted 3rd. I think he was high up the order against the Academy team as well.
Johnson failed again and was dropped for the second game.
Kirton did not play the first game. Thaker was the captain (out on 49!)
Samra (80 runs) and Matharu four wickets) with List A debuts.
I think Dhaliwal should run the first one hard more. They're probably leaving a few runs out there. Don't make any assumptions about Associate or Zim A fielding.
The stream had Thakkar and Moova..
Zim won the toss in the second game and batted first. The wicket in Harare always gets easier to bat on as the day goes on so Zim were either trying to challenge themselves or they were being a bit arrogant and thought they'd win anyway.
Jongwe has played for Zim many times. He always seems overweight but a very good player. Mufudza is a good bowler and should be selected more. Naqvi is crushing it domestically. He's just waiting to be eligible before playing for Zim. This is a good team.

Interesting scene in the first game. Parveen Kumar bowled 10.1 overs. Saad took over and bowled 8.5 overs.
Also, they appealed for a run out, didn’t get it and gave up a run because the ball was still live. Maybe a bit sloppy. Maybe couldn’t be helped?

Dhaliwal run out in the 2nd game because of not running hard. Bad habit.

They actually gave Johnson a bowl! His spell was pretty good. He took a wicket and should have had another but for a bad drop in the slips by Pargat Singh. Pargat wasn't in the slips after that. But there was a play where Johnson was disgusted by something - either himself or his fielder - and then he went for a walk! The throw in hit the stumps - not in time for a run out - but he should have been covering the stumps! There was a fielder backing the throw but it's such poor cricket. Of course, I'm qualified to coach the u10s ;)

OMG, they didn't run assuming a boundary and so scored two instead of three. Poor.
Also, Movva has a thing where if the ball comes close to the bat he half starts to appeal and throws the ball high in the air. I'd run. Make it easily.

CWC League 2 Namibia (2025)
Canada's first match against Netherlands abandoned. 1 point each. Both teams coming off northern hemisphere winter had similar preparation (in southern Africa) going in and playing on neutral ground. Good contest to see how Canada measures up.
A toss did take place so the match squad was named. Yuvraj Samra was to be given his ODI debut - a bold move from the selectors. Shahid Ahmadzai was included in a spin-heavy bowling unit.

Next match against Namibia who recently finished 1 win, 3 losses against USA and Oman in Namibia. This is the optimal time for Canada's visit. They need to take advantage of it.

This is so disappointing about the Netherlands game. I was really looking forward to that. Canada might win that but I’d rather a loss than a no result. Netherlands might feel they’ve lost a point.
