Canada 1 for 3 and 32 for 6 against Scotland. They used eight bowlers, trying everything without success. This team is playing at rock bottom level. Cricket Canada board seems intent on destroying everything that was accomplished at the start of last year. Shocking governance.

It's becoming clear Kirton is not setting an example of success. He can't remain as captain. Why was Dhaliwal removed ? I'd like to see a Canadian-raised cricketer do well but Akhil Kumar seems mediocre at this level. Things are dire if Canada has had to turn to him to make up a bowling attack.

Sooo...what's happened with this ICC investigation of CC
corruption? My guess is NOTHING will come of it...as always.

So Kirton and Kumar played their best games against Namibia after I was down on them :). Unfortunately, it will take many more consistent efforts to show they should keep their places. They were among Canada's best in another Canadian failure (at home). Canada contained Namibia early on but after they failed to take wickets, you just knew it was going to come back to bite them in the end. Canada just doesn't look like a team that can post a score of 250 these days. The fall continues.

The latest Toronto Sun cricket article says the players are not being paid with the ICC withholding funds while Cricket Canada is investigated. That won't help morale.

A wet field likely spares Canada being swept at home in their CWC League 2 series with Namibia and Scotland. Canada complete their 2025 League 2 schedule with 12 matches, 1 win, 8 losses, 3 matches abandoned and 5 points from the 24 available. Hearty congratulations to the CC leadership for this display of futility. It could not have been accomplished without you.

Baring a massive change in form for 2026, Canada will finish in the bottom four of the tournament and will play for their professional lives in 2027.
One hopes the provinces will realize their folly in electing the current administration, set it right and that their is sufficient time to prepare a team for the Qualifier Playoff. Or will they choose to retain the same disastrous leaders ?

Navneet Dhaliwal's retirement, though it was coming at some point, is a significant loss for the current League 2 campaign and Canada's almost certain requirement to play the Playoff Qualifier tournament. At 37, he is still the most reliable bat in the side and remains capable to posting big runs. I would expect to see the evergreen bin Zafar continue into 2027 but what about Dillon Heyliger ? Canada are badly in need new talent and need it soon.

So Canada is set to host a series for League 2 in June. It's now May 24. Any warm up games? Is King City going to be up to it? What is the schedule? Wikipedia has the games starting on June 6 but Cricinfo has nothing on the schedule. Cricbuzz gives dates for the League 2 series with Netherlands, Nepal and Namibia in July but nothing about the Canada scheduled one. It's so weird not to be able to find out any information on the freakin' internet!
