A bit of a surprise with the change in captaincy but it had to happen some time. Saad should maybe have seen out the year as the on-field leader but I don't have too much of a problem with this. Quite the transformation for Kirton who not long ago was very inconsistent. Well done!

Several other changes to the team:
-It appears the selectors are rewarding Junaid Siddiqui for his good form of late at the expense of Nikhil Dutta. Too bad for Nikhil but Siddiqui has performed of late.
-Canada seems to have moved on from WK Wiyerjeratne.
-Will have to see whether Ravinderpal Singh and Kanwar Tathgur are worthy of their spots.
-As well, Rishiv Joshi is the latest to get a try as the team looks to inject some youthful pace.
-The biggest potential change: whether a new coach will lead Canada in the Netherlands.

As was the worry, the squad will have to leave well before the end of the GT20 and have to re-focus to batting out 50 overs.

Canada not scoring nearly quickly enough. Going at 3.33 an over after 36? All very low strike rates. Only bowlers left to bat after the current pair.

They haven’t hit a boundary in 13 overs.

All out for 194  Maybe it’s a tough pitch but they did hit a few boundaries late so probably the Netherlands won’t have much trouble chasing.

Canada's few decent batting performances came at the expense of a slow scoring rate. There were just insufficient runs to defend against the Dutch. The Netherlands were comfortably in control the whole way.

Canada need to bounce back quickly again the USA.

Another poor start for Canada. The USA are 125/1 halfway through the allotted overs. Canada will be chasing a large total.

------------
Update: Canada's batting managed to get the score close on paper but the match was lost due to being unable to take early wickets. Too much pressure on the batsmen and Canada doesn't have the luxury of waiting for newcomer Varadarajan to find his form. At 33, he has to produce now.
This looked like a tough series but most series will be as tough. Through 2 matches the outcomes have not been in much doubt.

Honeymoon over. Team Canucks could very well lose all
four of these matches.

So finally Canada's bowling shows up, restricting the Dutch to reasonable 220. Then the Canadian batting takes a turn to go missing. It was an unacceptable batting effort. The new captain in particular has to take a look at himself after 3 mediocre innings. Cricket Canada's decision to change coaching has made things worse if anything. Lots of blame to share around.

All of these games are low scoring so I think the pitch might be difficult to bat on. Still, all out in 35 overs is poor. Go get ‘em the day after tomorrow and then I guess it’s time for MiLC.
