No Kirton. He’ll have to hitch his wagon to Canada and the TDCA for now at least. He had a good Challenge League scoring around 191 at an avg of around 64. The Super50 is missing a few top WI players. I’ve been looking for this for months and never found anything. Also no Kumar. He was one of the highest run scorers last year.

Indeed Guyanese/Canadian, Matthew Nandu is also not part of the Super50. However, he has been selected for the Guyana Amazon Warrior in the 2022 edition of the Caribbean Premier League. I still have hope he will end up with Canada in a few years. Although, if he is unable to make a career in the West Indies as a professional, he might follow Nitish Kumar and Nikhil Duttu to the U.S. professional circuit. We'll see.

Right now the WI has a u19 championship happening. There has been a Canadian team in this comp in the past. Another door has closed I guess. Therefore we need a u19 comp (several regional comps) in Canada. There were no AB v BC games this year for example.

Thanks to Czarsports for pointing out Nicholas Kirton was named to the Barbados team for Super 50 2022.

The tournament is scheduled for October 29th to November 19th, meaning Kirton will miss the start of Canada's Oman tour. However, it does mean he'll be playing at a good level and will have another chance at being a professional.

Matthew Nandu not part of a Super 50 squad, as yet.

This is really good news for Kirton. Two tournaments ago , however, he only played 2 games out of six so I hope he gets some time in the middle. He didn’t do much in the TDCA this summer. All of the top WI players are there to start. At least he’ll get good practice in the nets and good coaching.

Why does the WI only publicize these things two days ahead of time? You can’t find any information about the Super50 in August.

Kirton watch! 16 not out off 25.
Interesting that da Silva was opening for T&T. He captained
(I think) a Windies A team recently. Maybe get a few ODIs soon?

Kirton out for 7 on a pretty poor shot but he did take a catch (two bites at it!) and he bowled one decent over of spin. Another option as a part timer for Canada?

It's getting harder to say Kirton is young and will improve with time. This (Super 50) is a level at which we need him to succeed, if not excel. For a batting specialist, Nicholas will need to put up better numbers to keep his place. I assume he must be doing well in Bajan domestic cricket to keep getting the call.

Hope Kirton will get some more chances and take advantage of them. The only thing in his favour is that Barbados generally did poorly against Jamaica, giving up too many runs and a few other bats also failing.
