No no. They’ll be making money off gambling. Where are you seeing videos? It’s worth saying these games are in Lauderhill. They’re not really growing the fan base are they? And the teams, I think, have no connection to the cities they are supposed to be representing.

From the day the Lauderhill stadium opened, 16 years ago, it's failed to attract spectators excepting
the India matches. A third insane league--the National Cricket League--was going to play there
in December but high-tailed it to Dallas where they're supposed to play in a pop-up stadium in

Matthew Nandu's series with WI Academy against their Irish counterparts is just about over. His production compared quite favourably to the rest of his team during the 50 over matches. However, in 3 innings in the unofficial tests he averaged only 18 runs. Bearing in mind the series was against the Irish academy and not an established Test nation means even bigger challenges await him and the rest of the team. Coupled with his accomplishments in the Super 50, in Nandu's first year with the academy he has probably done enough to keep his spot but more will be expected of him in 2024. At this moment in time it appears he will struggle to progress all the way to the full West Indies team.

Right. But he is only 20 yrs. This type of series is of course perfect for him. He should play in the domestic 1st class comp and hopefully A tours in the future.

You won’t want to miss (!) the APL. American Premier League tournament in Pearland TX basically Houston. All of the teams are called ‘Premium..,’. ie Premium Indians featuring Rakheem Cornwall and Premium Aussies such as Rajveer Singh! Anyways, Premium Canadians feature many Canada internationals. It’s from Dec 19-31.

Premium Canadians have had four games abandoned. The one game they’ve played had no names that I recognized and did not seem like the list I saw on the tournament website. Aaron Johnson with a 52 for Windies.

Are there any Canadian guys playing overseas? I keep hearing about players from associate countries playing county or club cricket somewhere. I wonder if a guy could get into the domestic game in maybe the Netherlands or Scotland or…. I suppose playing in the APL won’t really do it for you although maybe none of our guys are playing in that.

^ You're right. Canadians don't seem to be getting the opportunities to play T20 and T10 abroad they were a few years ago. It is probably due to perceived better talent being available from Test nations (Zim, Afg, Ire) and League 2 (UAE, Nam, Nep, USA). That may change as Canada re-joins the top tier of Associates starting in 2024. If a player like Harsh Thaker can make an impact in League 2 or the T20 WC, he will likely get a look from the endless sequence of T20 tournaments.

Regarding American Premier League, the prospect of "Premium Canadians" is not an attraction for an overseas audience. Maybe the organizers had second thoughts about paying for Canadian imports when 2nd rate American stand-ins would be indistinguishable to most viewers.

Update: PdP reporting on Facebook that APL umpires say $30K is owed to them. That lends plausibility to APL deciding not to use actual Canadians. Another cricket fiasco on North American soil in the works ...

APL seems to be in chaos. Reports that players, umpires, haven't been paid...umpires
refused to umpire...police called...hotel bills not paid. SNAFU with USA cricket.
