Peter Della Penna, in his recent article on Dreamcricket, rips into USA women's team,
excoriating the failures of USA administrators in developing the game, all of which
is old news to anyone who's been observing the game in the states (and Canada, for
that matter). But he left out a major factor in his suggestion of promoting the
game in USA colleges: Who can sell cricket to Americans??? USACricket tried this with
their NIRSA initiative and it was a disastrous failure.

No need to remind everyone that the USA W smoked the CAN W a few months ago. CC need to get started this very month, the last few weeks of outdoor practice, to work on a team for, hopefully, a qualifying process in 2021 for the Commonwealth Games. In the PDP article, he mentions the 50 over WWC qualifying and Canada is not there. Have they already been eliminated or is there no good reason to even include them? All the more reason to earn their way into the CG.

Yes, I think our Canadian women are already out of the next 50 over CWC. The USA/Canada qualifier series was for the right to be the Americas representative in both 20 and 50 over formats. It was big stakes and we were not prepared as well as we could have been. Even facing bad odds with ICC's support of USA, Canada should have been putting some more resources toward our WNT.

With cricket now in the Commonwealth Games it is time to get serious about the women's game. Recruit athletes from baseball and softball, get into schools using CG as a point of entry with schools, sponsors, etcetera.

"recruit athletes from baseball and softball"

Something I've been advocating FOOOOOR YEARS! But now ask yourself: WHO'S gonna do that?
Who has any confidence Sanai or any of the CC twiddly-dees can sell cricket to top women softball players? :(

"get cricket in schools"

Well, how often have we been hearing this! Some Canuck school districts already
have fairly well established cricket programs. Are the CC twiddly-dums building
on this? :(

Well, finally heard from this new USA CEO on their website. Has the usual bluster about
being enthusiastic over the future of the game, etc., we've heard many times before. Will
wait and see what they're actually planning. Relocating their offices to San Francisco, where, it's
rumored, they're supposed to build a stadium for this T20 league. The strategy seems to be
clear: expecting the Silicon Valley expats to carry this league.

See USACricket is hiring THREE--count 'em, THREE--full time development people!
This in addition to the CEO they just hired! CC being left further, and further, behind. :( :(

ICC continues to play heavy favorites to Americas with this 2021 T20 WC.
Two teams qualify by playing just one event. The easiest pathway of
any region, even easier than Pacific region! Assume it's just gonna
be three teams again: Canucks, Shorts, and The-Blank-Check-Team.

Blank-Check-Team...oops!, I mean "Team USA" skittled out by Nepal for 35!!!!
What does that work out to, about $100K per run that ICC's pumped into USA cricket!

Peter Della Penna reporting USACricket has hired Richard Done, ICC Development
Manager, as new USA Development Manager. ICC continues to go whole hog for
USA Cricket, and soon may have their entire management team running USA Cricket!! :o :o

Published reports claiming USA and Windies will be making joint bid
to host T20 WC in 2026 or 2031. Well, gives them six years to connect with
Americans otherwise just another sad, sad, repeat of all the failed
Lauderhill matches. Guess that Olympics thing's gone by the wayside.
