USACricket reporting that the Americas women's regional WC qualifier will be held in the states (surprise, surprise!), and will have only two
teams, "Team USA" and Canada, who will play a three game series. No Bermuda? No Caymans? No South American teams?

Re: Associate 50 ov & First Class competitions 2019-2023
^ This is so weird. It is OK for Canada and USA to destroy teams from countries no one previously knew had men's cricket programs (Panama and Belize). However, South American women's teams participating in the only tournament of its kind in the Americas are not invited to qualify for Women's WT20.
Anyway, Americas Qualifier to be held in 2nd quarter of 2019, they say.

Re: Associate 50 ov & First Class competitions 2019-2023
ICC playing a cruel joke on the Associates. Yes, its great to have
an ongoing international schedule and having the teams advance
with bilateral home/away matches (something I've been advocating
FOR YEARS). But its 50 over cricket, next in line for extinction after
test cricket. So there's going to be NO opportunity to use all these
matches to promote the game to mainstream North Americans. None
whatsoever (won't even get many expats turning out for these matches).
Not to mention the fact that the ICC seems to have
permanently set on a 10 team WC, which means virtually no Associate
has a chance of making it no matter how many matches they play.

Re: Associate competitions
Reviving this thread after many years ...
The Cricketer is reporting Full Member concerns over the ODI format : https://www.thecricketer.com/Topics/men ... ormat.html
What does it mean for the Associates that are largely funded based on their League 2 (8 countries) and Challenge League (12 countries) participation ? Could greater Associate involvement in FM ODI competitons be the answer to falling ratings for the format ? International one-day cricket probably won't disappear in the medium term but the effects of any curtailment would have serious consequences for Associate Members.

Re: Associate competitions
T20s killing ODIs just as its killing test cricket. Should actually
help associates. They don't care to play, spectators don't care to
watch, that type of cricket.

Re: Associate competitions
The Challenge League Playoff is underway.
8 teams fighting for 4 spots in the 2024-26 Challenge League
Group A : Italy, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bermuda
Group B : Bahrain, Malaysia, Tanzania, Vanuatu
It could spell dire times for Bermudian cricket if they don't return to the Challenge League. There aren't many prospects for international play apart from Americas T20 WCQ every couple of years. The Arabian teams and Malaysia will continue to develop regardless. The ICC's Asian and East Asia Pacific regions seem to have the necessary resources to play often and larger members are willing to assist lesser members.

How about the Canada Emerging and A teams getting the tough gig of spending a week in Bermuda?
