Zimbabwe, USA and Ireland u19s to play a tri-series according to a Zim fan forum. Why won’t the ICC help Canada?

Interesting. I wonder whether the ICC is providing funding to other Associates in preparation for U19 WC.

It seems Uganda U19s are arriving in West Indies on January 3rd but no mention is made of any preparations other than the scheduled warm-up matches. The same appears to be the case for Scotland (replacement for New Zealand), so that might be the best Canada can hope for.

Our Group A opponents, the UAE are getting lots of good competition (and respectable results) at the Asian Cricket Council U19 Cup in Dubai. Canada will be in tough given our lack of match practice.

Old boy, don't you get it? ICC's left Cricket Canada for dead! It's ONLY gonna be full steam ahead for USA,
ICC showering on them all the $$$, matches, tournys they want. :D :D Canada? Maybe ICC throw you a few crumbs.... :| :|

Now I’m reading that USA are not travelling to the series so it will be four games between Zim and Ireland. When is Canada going to the WI?

Canadian U19s are in St. Kitts. Not sure whether they have arranged any friendly matches to prepare but at least they can practise outdoors again.

I’m in Whistler. I’d rather be in St Kitts!

Someone named Pankaj Gupta replied to me on FB and says that Canada lost to Zim by 2 runs. I think Pakistan will be a different story.

From FB
“ZIM batted first, scored 208 runs in 48 overs. Match was affected by rain. CAN had a revised target of 185 in 38 overs.”

Thanks for that, Victorian.

CricInfo is useless for these warm-up matches unless India and apparently Afghanistan are involved. ICC and Cricket Canada are no better, though if Canada had won, I suspect there would be an article on CC website.

Pankaj Gupta is a member of Mississauga Ramblers, a major club within Ontario. He was profiled in Wickets : https://wickets.tel/volunteer-and-serva ... kaj-gupta/ . I corresponded with him once some years ago.
