Three views so far. It’s a shame they didn’t show the Pakistan wickets. CC and (small c) cricket in Canada have got to support Ethan Gibson. Obviously a talent. I was looking for these all day yesterday but, of course, it was nighttime in Pakistan 😁

Preview from Canadian Press: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/ ... p-despite/
10 week camp for the players but were unable to practice the last 2-3 weeks. Upon arriving in West Indies, the team had to quarantine for 3 days. Hopefully, the kids will get better as the tournament goes on.

Canada vs. UAE
Some early wickets probably slowed the Emerates but after that there were not enough dismissals to prevent a big score. Canada's batsmen with alot to do.
UAE 284/7
Canada 235 all out

Some good performances with the bat but the guys left themselves a mountain to climb. Wickets are the key to victory.
The result (loss by ~ 50 runs) isn't terrible or unexpected given Canada's inactivity and UAE's recent Asian Cup U19 participation. We'll see whether Canada can improve by the consolation round against more Associates.

Canada vs England
The Canadians threatened with being overrun by England. Can they at least score more than Bangladesh's 97 against the same opponents?
England 320/7
Canada 214 all out

Canada kept England batting in check for a while but eventually they couldn't close down the innings.
An important 7th wicket partnership gives Canada a little respectability after 5 wickets fell for 35.
Cricket Canada need to get teams practice matches against international competition (in non-Covid times). The players can't step up their game when this is their first exposure to international cricket.

Match delayed by rain. Probably will be a short delay but we do not want the game abandoned. We want the young players to seize the opportunity of playing v England! It’s a drag if the game is shortened substantially.

Well, all out. They essentially batted out so a good team effort. Bangladesh next. Actually should be a good game. Awesome to win it.

Canada vs Bangladesh
Canada 136 all out (44.3 ov)
Bangladesh 141/2 (30.1)

Once again, Chima's opening partner falls for a low score. It reveals our lack of experience at anything close to this level. Does CC have plans to help our elite youth players?
A struggle in the middle for the Canadians as they were outclassed by the bowling. No partnerships of note meant a small total was in the cards today. Extras outscored all but one batsman.
Bangladesh slowly canter to victory, the bowling unable to make inroads and the target too low. Rough going so far for Canada but effectively, this is where the tournament starts for Canada and where they will be tested against Associate-level teams. Canada next face the loser of Ireland/South Africa.
