The website for the tournament: https://fplt20.com/

The teams and schedule have already been set. Just the players have to be allocated to the teams.
Apparently, the matches will be played in two time slots: 3:30-7:30 PM and 7:30-11:30 PM. As such it might get quite cool for the later matches. Late September/early October will mean more chance of rain-outs. Was mid-September a possibility ?

FPLT20 tournament now set to begin a week later - October 3rd. I imagine they will want to start promoting it soon. No details on "icon" players or local participants.

The squads are on the tournament FB and fplt20.com. The icon players aren’t that exciting.

. There appears to be another change in the scheduling that will see matches played in the 8:00-11:00 and 11:30-14:30 time slots.
. Squads sizes are 16-17 players. I can't tell how many are overseas-based or how many are qualified for Canada. Expect squads to be fluid with locals filling in as required.
. 15 match round-robin + semi-finals + final = 18 matches.
. Match days are Oct 3-7, Oct 10-12, Playoffs: Oct 13-14 - there is little or no accommodation for rain-outs. Oct 8 & 9 may be reserved for T&D playoffs.

FCPL T20 is the poor man's version of GT20. I fail to see why the organizers think it is a good idea but at least it offers a chance to watch some cricket with Canadian content in a month when the sport is usually going into hibernation.

From cricinfo on a story about County cricket declining

“If someone chooses to spend half the summer in the UAE in a tinpot tournament then so be it”. Ooooohhhh!

I think much of the business plan behind such tournaments is the gambling in India. Did you see the story a few months ago of a completely faked IPL to get gamblers in Russia?

Seemingly cancelled on very short notice for the players and officials involved. It was supposed to be streamed worldwide. I guess there were no contracts in place? With no other information it seems strange to me.
