1st match vs Argentina

According to the coverage, Canada has won the toss and will bat

Canada XI: Achini Perera, Danielle Mcgahey, Divya Saxena, Hala Azmat, Hiba Shamshad, Kainat Qazi, Krima Kapadia, Mannat Hundal, Rhea Misra, Sana Zafar, Vijayani Vithanage

Canada 181/3 20ov
Argentina 69 all out 17.1ov

Based solely on what was seen in this match, Canada needs to be here to increase the quality of the tournament and for their own sake to just be playing. Hopefully, CC can find the funding for next year.

2nd match vs Brazil

This and likely the final are the true tests for Canada - how they are able to compete top to bottom against a strong regional opponent. Matches against the Americans might be few and far between so Brazil will be our measuring stick for where we are and where we have to be.

Canada: 177/3 20ov
Brazil: 132/5 20ov

Canada score almost as much they did against Argentina and have done far better than against Brazil at last year's Americas T20 WCQ. We'll see how they defend the total.

... Well, what a difference a year (and a team selection) makes. Brazil largely unchanged from their successful 2nd place at the 2021 Americas T20 WCQ while Canada has around 4 holdovers from that tournament. Back then Brazil did not even have to post 50 to win their matches against Canada. The difference now is how well Canada coped with Brazil's bowling.

Canada win by 45 runs! Holy smokes! What happened since last summer? Perhaps the team had more better training together. Coach Cheema might be doing great things.

^ It's a very different Canadian side. Once you deal with Brazil's bowling, their batting is hardly overwhelming. Next game will show how both sides adjust.

Yeah, pretty pathetic competition when teams are losing by over 200 runs in 20 over matches. This competition is a big step back for Canucks.

3rd match vs Peru

Peru: 34 all out 19.2 ov
Canada: 37/0 3.3 ov

Oh dear. 6 ducks already for Peru, one a hit wicket. Ah well, we knew not every game was going to be a challenge.

So Peru all out for 34. They were all out for 31 against Argentina. Not sure what their program gains from this experience. I think Canada has won this tournament already on NRR with Brazil having a close one against Argentina. I know, one more game to go.

Final vs Brazil

Canada: 125 all out 19.1 ov
Brazil: 89 all out 17 ov

Canada once again bat first. It is yet to be seen how they would cope with a run chase against anyone but the last-place side. This time they unable to get the fast start as the Brazilian bowling was better able to restrict opener Danielle McGahey.
... Canada suffers its first major collapse of the tournament. The middle and lower order batting was exposed for the first time.
... Good win in the end for Canada after failing to post the target they looked set to make. Canada win South American championship and lay claim to 2nd in the Americas. With a pair of T20I victories over Brazil, they might pass them in the womens T20 rankings.
