Brampton getting a major boost to its cricket infrastructure in the form of turf wickets and equipment to maintain them. That city should now be expected to be an important centre for cricket growth and development and likely a cricket stadium. Cricket Canada should also be looking to invest in an academy based in Brampton.

CC is set to conduct online training for High Performance coaches. Two in each province, I think? There might be a vision for level one coaching training in the future. Maybe JSMunn can elaborate?

This is the first step of putting in place a Canada wide high performance programme. The idea here is to educate and improve the coaching skills available in every province to assist in the development of potential national team players in both mens and women's programmes. There is work going on to put in place coaching modules integrated with the NCCP programme (https://coach.ca/nccp-streams-and-contexts) - the community level module has been in place for a while now, with the next phase, competition nearly complete.
There is of course much to do in these areas but progress is being made.

The March 14th edition of "Dropped Again" podcast (final 15 minutes) featured some good ideas for an U25 development program:
https://anchor.fm/droppedagain/episodes ... rs-e1fm2ni

Many of the points have been previously mentioned on this forum and probably elsewhere. It sounds not dissimilar to the Canada U23 team that was part of the Toronto and District league 20 years ago. It is clear that such a development program has been sorely lacking over the intervening two decades. It does not have to be prohibitively expensive. Yet despite talk of academies and lip service to development, not one Cricket Canada administration has attempted put anything in place. They still believe our national teams can get by on raw talent and weekend cricket despite evidence to the contrary since the 2011 World Cup. It doesn't seem Canada's fortunes will change until someone in charge is willing to face reality.

"Cricket BC is inviting job applications for Senior Men’s BC Team Head Coach position.
This is a part-time position responsible for coaching BC’s Senior Men’s Team.
This is a part-time opportunity and wage is between $25/hr to $40/hr depending on the
qualifications and experience of the candidate.
Essential Criteria
• The candidate should have played at least 50 one-day (50 Over) games and at
least 25 T20 games.
• Experience of coaching or playing Cricket to a high standard.
• Level 2 or 3 Cricket Coaching qualification. or equivalent preferred."

There is also lots of blah blah blah about training and organizing practices and games and developing a pathway...
There are a few people who have level two or three coaching certificates but CC doesn't provide any training so the pool of applicants will be limited.

National High Performance Championship will be held at Maple Leaf Cricket Club Ground in King City starting Sep 26.
It will be a 5 Days Tournament where Total 42 players will be divided into 3 Teams (Canada Select, President XI & U25).
Round 2 Teams (1st All Stars & 2nd All Stars) will be determined on the Third Day and we will pick the Best 24 Players out of the Round 1 who will then play on last Two Days.
Afrer the Tournament, we we will announce the 16 Members Squad for Malaysia and 15 Members as our Development Squad.
I don't think the "Development squad" was named after the conclusion of the HP Championship. This would be addressing a major shortfall in the program - the gap between club cricket and the National Team. Cricket Canada must follow through on their plan.

Grandiose plans, that have been tossed around for at least two years,
of building 20K cricket stadium in Brampton seem to be going nowhere.
Cost estimates have raised the price tag from $35 million to $49 million.
Recent poll says 69% of the people in Brampton don't want a cricket
stadium. Reports claim CC still dreaming of hosting some 2024 World Cup
matches. The beat goes on.... :x :(

They ARE dreaming to hope for WC games. I don’t think King City or CC distinguished themselves with the Challenge League.
