All very good questions. But CC has had (supposedly) a school/youth program for years. Everyone's in the dark
on how that's going, so its doubtful anyone will hear on any other program. :( :(

The latest Wickets says there is a committee to “solicit an[d] evaluate applications for a national coach.” There is s high performance team ready to be announced but no head coach! Any guesses on who it might be?

So Cricket Canada have the funding to upgrade the national coaching position? I'm not sure it's worth the effort and upset to change the coach yet again unless we are sure we can do better. Either that or the new CC board and Amarinder Bhinder really can't work together. I share Victorian's concern that we hope for several important tournaments in 2021 and there is doubt over who will prepare the squad(s).

Cricket Canada looking to replace Amarinder Bhinder as national coach: https://cricketcanada.org/news-single?nid=210

CC also looking to professionalize national selectors ? : https://cricketcanada.org/news-single?nid=211

Coach Bhinder had very little on-field success but he was also given very little to work with in terms of team preparation. It might be time to look at a former national team player who is familiar with Canada's situation and probably has some ideas on what can realistically be improved upon. Whoever the successful candidate, it still comes down to the available funds to prepare the team for major competitions (tours).

I like the idea of paying the national selectors and hopefully making them accountable for the national team results. Politics has to be removed from selection.

A couple of things
The position is expected to start on June 15. The Challenge League is to start July 24. Not much time to have any impact.

Why is coaching software an important aspect?

Develop a coaching structure to support all national teams.
This should be well underway for a big 2022.

Responsible for coaching, including planning, developing and executing the national teams’ training program consistent with the objectives established by CC.
the objectives established by CC? I guess they’re in the new strategic plan?

Cricket Canada announce Pubudu Dassanayake for a 2nd stint as head coach!

https://www.facebook.com/GoCricketGoCan ... %2CO%2CP-R

He certainly has experience at the international level and is familiar with many of our players, so a good hire compared to others of the past decade. But ... what was Cricket Canada doing the last two years when he was available and could have been working with the team ? Did CC recently come into lots of cash to fund all these new initiatives ?

Wonder how all the over-the-top Nepali fans feel about this.😄

Isn’t it his third time around? Is he a glutton for punishment? Toronto is a nice city in which to be. What can he accomplish with the team by July 27? Maybe it’s a short term contract so he can get a paycheque and some swag and coach at the associate 50 over comp. I hope he coaches for at least a couple of years maybe with some u21s.

The CC announcement of Dassanayake's hiring on their website says this is his 2nd go-round as Canadian coach.
https://cricketcanada.org/news-single?nid=223

He officially assumes the reigns on August 1st, so he may not be in charge for round 2 of the Challenge League. That's a good thing. The team is probably picked and has their plan and interim coaching in place for better or worse. Changing things at the last minute probably will not work to our benefit.

It was no secret Dassanayake wanted to remain in Canada because of his family. He would have preferred to remain in North America instead of returning to Nepal. He has always been the obvious choice for a re-hire given Cricket Canada's limited budget but they chose to procrastinate instead of replacing the previous coach.

With the increased domestic activity of late, Dassanayake has much more at his disposal to evaluate and develop players. It will be up to him to improve the team's morale and performance by getting the most out of the players.
