Very dubious. Can barely find three dozen women who play
hard ball cricket in the country. This "Premier" league would be
beer 'n skittles cricket. Who in their right mind would invest in it?

From May 1-15 in Dubai there is a women's cricket T20 tournament called the Fairbreak Invitational with cricketers from 35 countries and seven female umpires mentored by former test guys as well as some women coaches. Divya Saxena from Canada (Alberta) is listed as a player.

Divya’s team won the tournament. It seems Divya played in two games, one of which she DNB and the other she scored three and gave up five runs in one over if bowling.

Was there a Western Canada T20 this past weekend? Is there a central Canada T20 this week?

^ What has the CC Women's cricket coordinator been doing this past year? Contact should already have been already established with the top female cricketers in each province. Are there enough elite women to play the proposed "franchise" cricket league?

I’ve heard there is to be a national tournament in Ontario in August. That’s all I know.

This was from the May edition of Wickets:
Aug 8 – 12 Women’s National Championship, Ontario

Hope this is the start of taking the women's side of the sport more seriously and building a player pool. There are definitely opportunities for growth. It is just a pity Cricket Canada were so late to the game. We should be challenging the USA instead of trying to keep up with Brazil.

So the Cricket Federation of Uzbekistan women’s cricket plan involves 15 teams playing organized competitions with a pathway program for their under 19 and under 17 players. Surely the CFU doesn’t have a bigger budget than CC?
