And not a close loss! Have said this before: Ireland has absolutely nothing
to gain by playing this Lauderhill gig and everything to lose, which they have,
their reputation as a "Full" member, now pretty much in the trash can.
Must have been barely 100 people in the stands. The world is now seeing first hand the
"great market potential" for the game here!
Ireland lose to USA!!
Re: Ireland lose to USA!!
I don't agree. Ireland should play anybody anytime. They are not using this series properly. They are using many of their established regulars when they should be using their backups. The top guys should play two of the ODIs. There is an article on cricinfo, which I didn't read, of the Ireland captain lamenting a dearth of opportunities. Buddy, this IS and opportunity. Who of the full member teams would want to bother playing them when they lose to the USA, Netherlands, and Namibia?timmyj51 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 22, 2021 7:32 pmAnd not a close loss! Well, this Ireland gig pretty much turned out to be a bust, and not just because
of Covid. Reports state USACricket (or, more correctly, sugar daddy ICC) spent upwards of
half a million dollars to bring Irish to Florida. The payoff? Zilch! Zero! Nada! The Mercenaries (aka "Team USA")
get to say they beat a Full...before barely a hundred
people in the stands and no American media interest. This now brings the total to
over twenty first class matches at Lauderhill with absolutely NO BENEFIT for cricket in the states.

Re: Ireland lose to USA!!
USA cricket has good highlights of both t20s. Their win has 86000 views. The other has 18000. This is bad luck for Ireland because they need the preparation. I say bad luck, but it might have been their decision to cancel. It’s interesting seeing the difference of interpretation between PDP on cricinfo and timmyj!
