^ Canada's one-and-done appearance at the South American championship is fine as they are above that level of play. The problem is they are not being given any alternative source of matches. With Cricket Canada now having some corporate funding, surely there is enough to send the women's team to the United States or one of the West Indies islands on a tour. That level of competition is a bit above them but they need to play to improve.

2026 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier (Canada's matches)
March 10: vs USA
March 11: vs Argentina
March 13: vs Brazil
March 14: vs Argentina
March 16: vs Brazil
March 17: vs USA

Nothing on Cricket Canada website or social media ? What a surprise. One would almost think CC has no expectations of our team and wants to downplay this tournament.

Maple Leaf Chicanery! Canada is trying to pick Indomatie Goordial-John for the ICC Women's T20 WCQ Americas Regional in Argentina next month. The only problem is ICC rules bar anyone from playing for 3 countries. She's already played for West Indies & USA.

Oh holy cow! Canada women beat the USA in a 7 over game!
The ladies could really go somewhere if CC would get a real program going with some series played.

A real upset given the disparity in funding. They'll likely have beat the Americans again to actually finish first, however.

We have to hope some of the sponsorship money can go to more training camps and maybe a few international matches. Lesser cricket nations seem to manage some level of women's international cricket. Can we not play a series against the Americans once a year ?

What the ??

Argentina with a 1 run victory over Canada. What happened ? Seems the hosts batted and bowled better than they have ever done before at this level.

Edit:
I didn't realize Canada played warm-up matches against Brazil and Argentina winning both easily. This is a huge reversal of form even on a limited time frame.

Canada smoke Brazil. It’s a shame they dropped the game against Argentina as now I think it won’t come down to NRR. Brazil women seemed to be pretty good a few years ago. What happened?

^ Brazil seem to have stagnated with a very limited player pool while teams like Canada have found better players than 4 years ago.

In the end, I doubt NRR would have favoured Canada. It will still require a second win over the Americans.

USA win the tournament with the win over Canada. Canada had a pretty decent tournament though. As Ray pointed out the USA had the edge on NRR anyway. Hopefully more games for the women in less than two years time?
