Canada, and other associates, have gained respect from posters on the Zimbabwe Cricket Forum. That’s nice at least.

USA upset Pakistan in a super over. Nitish Kumar with important runs at the death and a big catch in the extra over.

While I don't usually support the Americans, this result gives them a solid chance to qualify for the next round and to finish in the top 8 in the WC. With only a single Americas berth available in the next T20 WC, it would help Canada's chances to qualify with all the benefits that follow.

So if finishing in the Super8 they’ll qualify automatically and Canada can still qualify?

Aaaaarrrggghh! Kirton out for 49! But a Canadian record T20i 5th wicket partnership with Movva pulls the game back for Canada.

Are you kidding me right now?!
Someone on cricinfo feedback called it a miracle. Not really but a big result for Canada. It’s funny too how many people are cheering for Associates.

Yes, I believe that is the case. Super 8 participants automatically qualify for the 2026 T20 WC *. The Americas region would still have a berth that Canada would be favourite to win.

* India and Sri Lanka are the next hosts. If SL don't make the Super 8, I imagine one of the 8 will lose their automatic berth. So ideally, we want SL to go on from the group stage.
Edit: Sri Lanka beaten by Bangladesh to start the tournament 0 - 2. Not ideal.

Great win for Canada. Congratulations! Now we too have a WC victory and a Test nation scalp. Good work, Kirton, Movva, Gordon and Heyliger. That's another $31,000 US in prize money :D .

A satisfying victory only tempered by the fact they could be 2 - 0 with some better bowling against the US.

Yeah, I'll bet there were a lot of Indians cheering on the Americans yesterday.

England, Pakis, New Zealand could fail to make Super 8s. Replaced by USA, Scotland, 'Ghanis.
Ratings DISASTER for ICC! :o :o

I said exactly this in a whatsapp group. Also Sri Lanka missing. Good for cricket in some ways but terrible for business!

Then the Associates had better hope the ICC (India) don't react the way they did to the 2007 (50 over) WC when both India and Pakistan failed to make the 2nd round. The eventual result was a 10-team WC in that format. At least this time India are not in danger of a similar fate ... though had they lost to Pakistan, Associate boards might have started getting nervous.
