CC is forming a pool of established players (Pool A) and a pool of emerging players (Pool B) selected by provincial selectors. The national selectors will draw from the two pools to choose the Canada 'A' squad. From there, players can move up to the national team. Development pathway established.

Time will tell how well it works.
It’s summer in Toronto. I haven’t heard anything about Canada A or Emerging tours, or the best v the best…

This is not a mistake

I wish there was some information from someone somewhere! Nothing on Wikipedia either! Qualification is on around the world for the 2026 u19 Men’s WC. Nothing about Americas qualifying. No sub regionals?

The Canada Cup u17 tournament is going on in Surrey. A couple of observations-

No team from Eastern Canada. There is a Québec team so maybe players from the Maritimes are in there?

Low scores

Rarely batting 50 overs.

Canada High Performance vs Nepal one-day series played in October 2024 following the Canada/Nepal/Oman T20 series. Canada HP playing 15 or more during matches to see as many players as possible. Many "new" players given a chance. Perhaps too many - some in the National team and some at the fringes could have used some more experience : Dilpreet Bajwa, Akhil Kumar, Rishiv Joshi ... just my thoughts. However, overall it was a good development opportunity offered by CC. We just have to hope that the selectors benefited from seeing the talent on display.

Canada HP were sponsored by Pegasus Maritime shipping as clearly marked on their uniforms. However, you might not know if you weren't watching the games on CC Facebook.

Seems Cricket Canada are putting in place new development structure for the men, women, U19 men and the new U19 women programs. An overview was on CC Facebook but should really be on the main website, as well.

National championships, training camps, 'A' teams - the things that have been needed for a long time but for which there was never money. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

Says the provinces have to cover transportation costs for all their players. Going to be a problem for many.

In fairness, CC did provide a substantial number of practice matches last fall between Nepal and a Canadian development side. So there are some early examples of "actions". However, the new development structures need to be focused on building player pipelines to move players from the "emerging" pool to the national team. That is how they will be judged - how efficiently and effectively players are prepared and delivered to the national teams.
