As preparation for the League 2 series against Nepal and Oman, Canada face Marylebone Cricket Club at Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club. I can't remember the last time MCC toured Canada.

Czarsportz lists MCC playing one-day fixtures against Canada, then another one-day and 4 T20s against a "Canada Development XI". Cricket Canada acknowledges MCC matches on their website but shows different Canadian opponents.

Have to hope the Development teams are chosen wisely to test the best candidates for the national team. Such opportunities are rare.

Update: It turns out there are more opportunities for the high performance group than expected. Oman has arrived early and is playing against a Canada XV. Former U19s Ajayveer Singh and Mahir Patel are in the mix as well as the Canada-born Englishman, Oliver Cox.

Squad for Nepal/Oman home series:
Aaron Johnson
Akhil Kumar
Ansh Patel
Dilpreet Bajwa
Dilon Heyliger
Gurbaz Bajwa
Harsh Thaker
Kaleem Sana
Kanwar Tathgur
Navneet Dhaliwal
Nicholas Kirton
Pargat Singh
Parveen Kumar
Saad bin Zafar
Shreyas Movva

A few changes to the League 2 squad since Netherlands tour:
Jeremy Gordon out/unavailable, replaced by Akhil Kumar
Junaid Siddiqui out, replaced by debutant Ansh Patel
Aadityia Varadarajan out, replaced by Navneet Dhaliwal
Ravinderpal Singh out
Gurbaz Bajwa in

Khurram Chohan still filling the interim position until CC appoint a new coach.

Wins on home soil will be crucial and Oman is likely one of the weaker sides Canada will face, so this will be a telling series.

King City is the only ODI sanctioned ground I think.
And barely that also.

^ Think it would also cost CC much more to use the facilities at TCSCC, a private organization. Maple Leaf is controlled by a "friendly" Toronto board, I believe.

TCSCC was ODI sanctioned at one point. Not sure whether that is still the case.

I’d like to see some highlights or parts of games. Any link?

Did you check out the TCSCC team all out for 42 on Saturday?

Embarrassing. Probably not TCSCC's best squad - some are probably in the national team, but the team probably only got a match out of the MCC tour for the use of their ground for the eastern half of the tour. Then they do this. Four consecutive ducks.

Canada score 253. They had 100 after 30 and I thought that was pretty weak but they upped it after that. They should be able to defend that against Nepal. Kirton with 73 off 44! Dhaliwal with 48 but a bit slow scoring I think. Then again, maybe wickets fell at the other end and if he kept Kirton on strike that was the right approach.

Canada win by 103 runs with 10 overs to spare! That helps the NRR. Heyliger with the ODI 5fer.
