Matthew Spoors has landed a Big Bash League contract with the Perth Scorchers for the 2024-25 season. Great news for the young man. I hope the Canada selectors have some use for him and that he still has interest in 2nd tier international cricket.

Formerly a top-order batter, WA Cricket Academy member Spoors has transformed himself into an attacking leg-spinner capable of scoring quick runs in the middle-order.
Thanks to Fardin Kibria's article for noting the signing.

^ Nandu has had his best tournament as a senior player in the recent 2024 Super 50. He finishes as Guyana's top scorer and only centurion. He also fared well compared batsmen across all teams. It was a big step forward for him. Nandu's next major challenge would be 2025 CWI regional 4-day competition.

Kaleem Sana has apparently been drafted by PSL's Lahore Qalandars to play in the Global Super League tournament. Congratulations on a fitting end to a strong 2024.

Dilon Heyliger is playing for the Carolina Eagles
Shreyas Movva and Saad Zafar are playing for the Maryland Mavericks
in the US Premier League - a T20 league running from Nov 22-Dec 1 in Florida. The teams seem to represent different cities but it’s the normal thing of not really.
I haven’t seen the other two team lists.
The games are on youtube

CC Facebook announces that Kirton, Bin Zafar and Thaker will play in the first edition of the Nepal Premier League. Glad that Canadians are getting contracts in Associate leagues after many foreign Associate players have been part of the GT20.

Matthew Spoors debuts in the BBL for Perth Scorchers. It was a good first outing featuring 29 runs at #6 and being only one of two Scorchers to make double digits. His only over bowling did not go so well, conceding 15. Hopefully, he has done enough to earn more matches.

In Nepal, Harsh Thaker's Janakpur Bolts won the Nepal Premier League with their Canadian a major contributor to their success. He was probably the most successful of the Canadians to play in Nepal. Saad bin Zafar (Lumbini) was strong at times with his club while Nick Kirton (Biratnagar) generally struggled to score and Dilpreet Bajwa only played a single match for Sadur Paschim. Naresh Budayair, a former Nepal international, now living in Canada was also in the Sadur Paschim squad.

Edit:
Spoors' initial BBL campaign ends with 5 appearances, 4 innings, 78 runs with a 26.0 average and 100% strike rate. Decent numbers. His future at this level might depend on his usefulness as bowler, however. In that respect he struggled: 6 overs, 62 runs conceded, 1 wicket.

Shall we extend this thread from players to include coaches and administrators as necessary ?

Former Canadian international John Davison has been hired as Italian cricket's T20I coach as Italy pushes for T20 WC qualification. He might be helpful for recruiting Australians with Italian heritage.
