North America Cup

Post by Victorian » Fri Apr 04, 2025 12:57 pm

CC said in a statement about Kirton that “our national men’s team is fully focused on their preparations for the upcoming North America Cup.”
Is the entire team in Barbados? Are some training indoors in Toronto while the captain is in Barbados?
Is it the North America, North American or North Americas Cup? All questions that need answering.

^ I don't know how your team can be "fully focused" on anything when their friend, captain and one of the main bats is being held in custody. There must be some even more pertinent questions going through the players' minds like "Will Nick be available to play ?", "Should Cricket Canada replace him on an interim basis or permanently ?" and "Who comes in to replace him ?".

No surprise regarding Kirton. Dhaliwal makes sense.

The tournament comprises 4 round robin matches, semi finals and the final. As long as Canada don't finish last, they can expect 6 T20Ison this tour.
April 19: vs Bermuda
April 21: vs Bahamas
April 23: vs Cayman Islands
April 24: vs USA
April 26: semi-finals
April 27: 3rd place match and final

This article calls the tournament "North American Cup"
the USA Chairman calls it "the North America Championship"
the president of Caymans Cricket calls it the "North America's T20 Championship"
Also "As the cricketing world turns its attention to the Cayman Islands" The cricketing world?

CC's own Ingleton Liburd calls it " North America Cricket Cup".
Cayman is to host for two consecutive years and the matches will be streamed on Willow.

Movva is playing but Tathgur is keeping. I think Canada is making a bit of a meal out if chasing 105.

^ They are indeed but they are clearly emphasizing playing some new players over winning. There is no way you'd start this many new faces in an important match.

Thaker and Movva each hit one four and Dhaliwal hit two fours and two sixes. Nobody else hit a boundary. They went at least nine overs without a boundary. When is that T10?

Bermuda played two warmup games against Cayman A and Cayman President's XI. Any games for Canada? A warmup vs the USA would have been good.
