Canada Over-50s made 215 all out after 44.4 overs (of a potential 45 overs) in losing by 14 runs to New Zealand on Sunday (Nov 25, 2018) in the Over-50’s Cricket World Cup at the Rosedale Oval (Sydney, Australia).
Adrian Dale topped the Kiwis batting with 102 taking part in useful stands with David Fulton (32 runs) and Robbie Kerr (50). David Mohammed took 3 wickets for 44 runs from 9 overs.
Brian Rajadurai 51 and Shantha Jayasekera 61 added 61 for Canada’s second wicket. The next three batters in the Canadian order each made useful starts: Farooq Kirmani 20, Talal Iqbal 20 and Vishan de Mel 16. Mahmood Ahmed also made 16 batting at #9.
So quite a good showing and there will doubtless be some disappointment that 16s and 20s did not turn into 25s to 40s that could have brought a win for Canada.
Canada’s next game is against England on Monday.
