With the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Twenty/20 tournament qualifier in the rearview mirror, Canada is preparing to hit the road again for an Intercontinental Cup fixture and two one-day internationals in Namibia early next month.
The Canadian side, which finished sixth in the 16-team Twenty/20 qualifier in the United Arab Emirates, returned home on Tuesday. Canada fell to Scotland by four wickets with no balls remaining in an exciting playoff for fifth place.
Cricket Canada’s first vice-president, Ravin Moorthy, did not hide his disappointment.
“Going into the tournament, we knew there were some matches we would have to win in order to have a chance of going to the Twenty/20 World Cup in Sri Lanka,” he said. “We did not get the job done as a team and as a result we were not able to get over the hump.”
