The Toronto Sun features the Mayor’s Trophy event
“Once a year, a gentleman’s game discreetly unfolds in a Toronto park. Balls are bowled, the mayor arrives, one team is declared winner, family and friends cheer them on. Few people paid attention to the centuries-old game of cricket before this year’s eighth annual CIMA Mayor’s Trophy, the official celebration of the fastest growing sport in the city. With no fee to join and a mayor to be seen, several corporations entered their teams in the day-long tournament, held this year on June 23 at Sunnybrook Park. A total of 20 teams battled it out in the summer heat.”
