Bangladesh Under-19’s tumbled to a 74 run defeat against Australia in the closing round of matches in Group B while Afghanistan thumped the runs for a six wicket win against Namibia in 25.3 overs. The results meant all three teams closed with two wins with Australia advancing to first place and Afghanistan closing in second spot. Bangladesh tumbled to third place in Group B and will now meet Canada in a 9th place quarter-final playoff on Saturday. Australia made 244/6 (50 ov) thanks largely to the efforts of Jake Doran 99* and captain Alex Gregory’s 48. Bangladesh needed some batting resistance to cling to a top-two position but tumbled to 170 all out (42 ov). The full 50 overs count when a team is bowled out before the end of the over limit in calculating the net run rate, so Australia jumped up the standings at the expense of Bangladesh. .
