Canada U17 210/9 (50 overs; Arslan Khan 76, Abdul Haseeb 36*, Jordan Smith 4/43) beat Bermuda U17 193/9 (42 overs; Delray Rawlins 87, Jordan Smith 27, Harsh Thaker 2/11) by 7 runs under the D/L system. Bermuda D/L target 200 from 42 overs.

Delray Rawlins lead a brave effort that took Bermuda U17s close to victory against Canada U17s under the Duckworth/Lewis (D/L) system on Wednesday (August 20). Rawlins hit 87, his second half-century in two games, and lead a fourth wicket stand of 101 with Jordan Smith, who made 27. The partnership began after two wickets fell soon after play resumed following a stoppage for rain. Bermuda had slipped from 33/1 to 39/3. A couple of late order batsmen reached double figures but Canada’s bowlers and fielders did enough to complete a D/L win. Canada has two wins from two matches in this ICC U17 Development Tournament, USA one win from two and Bermuda has lost both games.

Jordan Smith had picked up 4/43 from ten overs in Canada’s innings and Rawlins spin conceded only 15 runs from his ten overs. He picked up one wicket. A stand of 21 between the two “A. Khan” Canadians ended when Abraash Khan was out for 20 (41/4). Arslan Khan lead the recovery of the innings during a sixth wicket stand of 52 with Sarbjot Singh Sivia (20) and a seventh wicket stand of 92 with Abdul Haseeb (36*).

The tournament continues on Thursday with the second meeting of Bermuda and the USA at the National Sports Centre in Bermuda.
