Toronto Cricket Club report

Toronto CS & CC has recorded six wins in a row and place well in the Elite League with a game to be played in the coming week-end. They notched up victories against Vikings, OCA/Overseas, Islanders, Victoria Park, CCC and Civics. The best game of the season for TCSCC was when they defeated the strong CCC by 30 runs, week before last, at King City where the opponents were sitting pretty at 143/4 chasing a target of 207 to win. CCC’s all-rounder Castro (81) was in a hurry to finish off the game with a couple of hits out of the park with Ravi Persaud joining and doing the same. But the game took another turn suddenly when Reza Rehman, who bowled extremely well, clean bowled Castro and Fahim Daniel claiming Ravi in quick sessions and the game turned in favour of Toronto with the tail of CCC folding up and all out for 176 runs.

The top professional of Toronto CC, Dhanuka Pathirana had been the highest run scorer in all games with an unbeaten hundred (103) against OCA, 93 Vs Islanders, 44 not out vs Victoria Park, 53 vs CCC and 52 not out Vs Civics. He now becomes one of the contenders to be the “Highest Run Scorer in Elite”, competing with Hiral Patel of Brampton/Malton Masters. Reza Rehaman had been in great form doing well with the bat and ball, helping Toronto in these wins. Scores of 74 Vs Victoria Park, 67 Vs CCC, 55 Vs Vikings and had claimed ‘Fifer’ Vs Yorkshire and 4 for 29 Vs CCC. Saad Nazar had a ‘Fifer’ against CCC when he claimed 5 for 26, leaving the strong CCC batting folding for 105 all out. Skipper Saheed Keshvani (67) and Srimantha Wijeyeratne (107) were the highest scorers against Vikings CC. Zubin Surkari, Ansar Bhawana are the others contributing with the bat for the season.
With the above performances by Toronto CS & CC, are now assured of a place in the play-offs and will be fighting for the #1 spot in their conference with Vikings CC. The game against Gujarat CC has been re-scheduled for the 12-Sept. On the opposite side of the conference, it will be Brampton/Malton Masters all the way, still maintaining their unbeaten record and most likely Islander’s CC who will make it to the play-offs.
An exciting last two weekends of the season is expected with the above mentioned teams going all out to hit the “Bulls-eye” in claiming the ‘Championship’ of Elite Division for the year 2015.
Wish them all the very best in the remainder of the games.
