Devon Smith’s thank-you to Limers Lords

Grenada’s Devon Smith presented one of his West Indies one-day international (ODI) shirts to his 2014 Toronto and District Cricket Association (TDCA) club, Limers Lords, after the first Elite Division semi-final game as a “thank-you”. He scored 386 runs and took 11 wickets in the regular season for conference winners Limers Lords. Devon Smith is now playing for Windward Islands Volcanoes against Jamaica in the opening round of the new WICB Indies PCL R4Day competition. The game began on Friday (November 14, 2014) at Sabina Park, Jamaica.

Devon Smith’s 6 is the overnight top-score for the Volcanoes, who ended the day on 16/3 from seven overs after bowling out Jamaica for 208. The batting on the opening day was rather patchy. A ninth wicket stand of 70 between Nikita Miller (57*) and West Indies Under-19 international Marquino Mindley (43) moved Jamaica up the scoring ladder to 190/9.
Mindley then picked up three wickets to close a useful debut-day in first-class cricket.
Devon Smith scored four fifties for Limers Lords in the 2014 Elite Division regular season with a top-score of 65 against Civics. He has played 33 tests and 47 ODIs for the West Indies, scoring one century and five fifties in both tests and ODIs.
“WICB PCL R4Day” stands for the West Indies Cricket Board Professional Cricket League Regional 4 Day competition in which the six competing franchises will play each other twice, which increases the number of first-class matches being played in the region. (EN)
