Ryerson in Chanderpaul Trophy Semi-Final

Ryerson University reached the semi-finals of the American Colleges T20 cricket championship last weekend, but lost with one ball to spare against eventual champions The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) Comets. UT Dallas Comets beat Drexel University Dragons by 35 runs in the final to capture the Chanderpaul Trophy. Canadian participants University of the Fraser Valley and McGill University did not qualify for the quarter-finals from the qualifying pools.

Ryerson had a close encounter with Northern Illinois Huskies in the quarter-final, reaching a
game tying 161/8 (20 ov) to tie with the Huskies 161/6 (20 ov). Noyam Nasil hit 43 from 24
balls to quickstart the Huskies innings with an opening stand of 61. Hassan Khan picked up 4
wickets for Ryerson at a slightly expensive cost of 39 runs from 4 overs.
It may sometimes prove useful if a team gets into the mood of hitting the ball into the air a lot
and a couple of bowlers pick up 8 wickets for about 80, and the other two batters are out quickly.
Ryerson’s innings, by contrast, was based upon some early runs followed by key partnership
between Hassan Mirza (67) and Nikhil Dutta (54).
Ryerson advanced to the semi-finals, scoring 124/6 (20 ov) against UT Dallas Comets with
Hassan Mirza (24), Farhan Khan (23) and Mohammed Asadi (21) heading the individual run
getters. Karthik Rajasakara (40) and Sachin Kumar (35) lead the way for UT Dallas Comets to
reach a winning 125/6 with one ball to spare.
Chiranseev Reddy struck 65 as UT Dallas Comets posted 192/7(20) in the Chanderpaul Trophy
final against Drexel United Dragons. Drexel Dragons had pulled off a 3 wicket win with 2 balls
to spare in semi-final action against the University of South Florida Bulls. UT Dallas Comets
limited Drexel Dragons to 157/5 (20 ov) in the Final. Chandan Naik top-scored for the Dragons
with 65*.

ov) in losing to the University of Florida Gators, who hit a rapid 49/1 (4.2 ov). Fraser Valley
used up the 20 overs against Southern Florida Bulls, but Fraser Valley’s 67/7 (20 ov) was soon
overhauled by the Bulls charge to a winning 68/2 after 6.1 overs. Only one team’s score was
