From Fort McMurrary today: – The Fort McMurray Cricket Club were treated to a visit from two of the province’s top cricket representatives over the weekend.
The presence of Alberta cricket coach Kashif Raza and Calgary’s Hamza Tariq, who plays in the Caribbean Premier League as well as on Canada’s national team, aided the region’s fledging junior program.
It was a unique chance for both sides to take positives from the meeting. For Raza and Tariq, the chance to aid the grassroots of Albertan cricket comes as they look to build the sport beyond Calgary and Edmonton.
For Irfan Bangash and Fort McMurray youth passionate about cricket, the rare chance to meet a member of Canada’s national team and a professional player was inspiring to say the least.
