BC Schools Cricket Championship

Jamison Schulz-Franco

The BC Schools Cricket Championship was held at Beacon Hill Park in Victoria on May 26th, contested by three schools – St Michaels University School Blue Jags (SMUS) of Victoria and Fleetwood Secondary Dragons and Princess Margaret of Vancouver. St. Michaels won the round robin event, led by BC u19 vice-captain Jamison Schulz-Franco – recent winner of the Western Canada u19 Jack Kyle Cup – who was the top batsman and MVP of the tournament. He made 160* and 109 in his two innings as well as having an impact bowling and wicketkeeping. Other good knocks were by Harshveer from Fleetwood Dragons with 89* and Tushar from Fleetwood Dragons with 57*, Amrit Saini from SMUS with 75 and Harman from Princess Margaret with 66. Very good bowling performances were put in by Harshveer, Jamison, and Asharjit from Princess Margaret. The weather was spectacular and the cricket was played in a good spirit. A shout out must go to the umpire, Vijay Shah, and scorer Darren Buhr, who worked all 98 overs of the day!
