Before the presentation of awards, Mayor John Tory, Mitzie Hunter, Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Development and and Mahes Wickramasinghe, Chief Corporate Officer of Canadian Tire Corporation, joined the young cricketers for a demonstration of the sport at the stadium.
Noting that cricket is part of the cultural heritage of many Torontonians, Mayor Tory said it was a pleasure to meet many young cricketers ” who are building a healthy, active lifestyle as well as leadership skills.”
” From our playgrounds to recreational sports leagues all the way to our high performance athletes, sport is vital to the cultural fabric of our city,” he added.
