Peel Region Secondary Schools Indoor Cricket Playoffs Update

The finalists are now known for both the Girls Varsity and the Junior Boys competitions under the banner of the Region of Peel Secondary Schools Athletic Association (ROPSSAA). Meanwhile, the quarter-finals of the Senior Boys competition were completed on Friday (May 11, 2018) when John Fraser SS beat Glenforest SS by 14 runs to join Thursday (May 10) winners Stephen Lewis SS, Louise Arbour SS and North Park SS in the semi-finals.
The Girls Varsity finalists had emerged on Wednesday (May 9), as previously reported on Canada Cricket Online, when Humberview SS beat Heart Lake and Sandalwood Heights SS beat North Park SS. The two semi-final winning schools had both played in the North Division where Sandalwood was undefeated with 6 wins from 6 matches. Humberview won 3 and lost 3, so Sandalwood would seem clear favourites for the final, but anything can happen in one-off cricket matches.
In the Junior Boys competition Stephen Lewis SS (South, 5/1) beat North division champion Central Peel (6/0) by 52 runs to 51 on Thursday. North Park (North, 4/2) beat South division winner Turner Fenton (5/0) by 7 runs on Friday. North Park scored 48 runs, Turner Fenton replied with 41.
On Wednesday in the Senior Boys competition Stephen Lewis (SouthWest, 4/1) beat Port Credit (South-East, 3/1/1) by 31 runs and North Park (North, 3/1) beat Central Peel (North Central, 5/0) by 18 runs. Louise Arbour (North, 2/2) scored 58 runs and beat Castlebrooke (North, 4/0) who made 56.
The Senior Boys quarter-finals concluded on Friday when John Fraser (South-West, 5/0) beat Glenforest (South-East 3/2) by 14 runs. John Fraser made 62, Glenforest replied with 48.
