Global T20 Canada officials have moved to allay fears the tournament won’t go ahead, assuring fans that Steve Smith and David Warner will return to cricket in Toronto following the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa.
Jason Harper, tournament director of the Twenty20 showpiece slated to start in late June, has hit back at Australian reports the fledgling event is in danger of folding.
“(There were rumours) contracts were not out and flights weren’t booked,” Harper said.
“Well, 91 of 96 players have been contracted … it’s going ahead.”
